Hardcore and Raw: Review of Days of Wrath (The Punisher)

School Bullying, Rape, Abuse of Power, What ISN'T in Day of Wrath (aka The Punisher)
Written and directed by Shin Dong-Yeob, who brought us 100 Days With Mr. ArroganceFourth Period Murder Mystery, and Ditto.

Stars:
Yang Dong-Geun as Chang-Sik
Joo Sang-Wook as Joon-Seok
Lee Tae-Im as Ji-Hee
Synopsis: Back in his high school days, Joon-Seok (Joo Sang-Wook) was bullied unmerciliously by Chang-Sik (Yang Dong-Geun) and his friends. Because of this, Joon-Seok's high school days were like a nightmare.
Now, Joon-Seok finds it difficult to live a normal life due to the bullying and other events that occurred that caused him to leave school.
Meanwhile, Chang-Sik, who has forgotten what he did to Joon-Seok, lives a relatively happy life. He is about to marry Ji-Hee (Lee Tae-Im). Joon-Seok will pay him back for all the misery.
My Thoughts:
As my adrenalin continues to be revved up after the completion of this movie, all I can say is, I cannot consciously recommend this to ANYONE!! Why? The beginning of the movie that features the conflict between the two male leads is so hard to watch, so raw with anguish and disgusting behavior, no sane person would say watch this.
Again, I am always awed and amazed at the depiction of bullying in Korean schools. It is unimaginable to think that anyone who is a victim survives with their sanity. And that is the crux of the story.
Yang Dong Geun as Chang Sik was superb, as usual. Joo Sang Wook as the tortured and never to have recovered Joon Seok was utterly amazing! The story is SUPER raw and an emotional roller coaster. Not too often you can watch a movie and say "Kill them ALL".

So can I say this movie was good? Not good, AMAZINGLY GOOD. Can I recommend? Unless you have the stomach to watch severe levels of abuse, rape, beatings, and few other things, you might want to skip this; however, if you can handle those subject matters, this is a well-acted and amazing story whereby the ending is exactly as you expected.

Where I Watched: I watched at Videomega. English subs were okay; however, the last 6-8 minutes, the sound disappeared. Not sure why. Another warning, make sure you have an Ad Blocker, there is an annoying ad that pops up when you click play; other than that, it seems a relatively safe website. Another place is Drama.net
